Ephesians 6:17-18 KJV … the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
The conclusion of Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus is a beautiful encouragement and reminder that the church both collectively and individually is empowered through our union with God Almighty; thus we draw strength from His unlimited might, equipped for battle as a heavily armed soldier so that we may successfully stand up against the strategies, deceits, and cunning devices of the devil. This infinitely effective warfare is then advanced by… “the word of God: Praying always with all prayer…” Prayer is God’s strategy for the church to advance and prevail against the gates of hell.
Matthew 11:12 NIV From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.
The kingdom of heaven can be defined as God’s rule, God’s reign, God’s authority, God’s government, God’s supreme administration; it is the visible proof of God’s invisible kingdom, rule and dominion. What a magnificent declaration by someone who should know a little something about the kingdom of heaven, Jesus Christ. Notice Jesus said the kingdom of heaven began its advance in the days of John the Baptist… John’s mission was to announce the One coming whom all men should make themselves ready to receive as Lord (Master, ruler). Therefore there was enough power in merely announcing the coming King to begin advancing His kingdom! Glory to God! God’s kingdom is still advancing today as forceful, violent men and women keep God’s word in their hearts and mouths making announcements daily of God’s rule in their cities to turn the heart of governing bodies, God’s reign over their families to protect and deliver, God’s authority over their bodies to heal and preserve. The word of God in the heart and mouth of the intensely resolute, forceful believer is the indomitable power of prayer.
